  • It's Good to be Mom

Mother's Day was fantastic.  Not bad for my first one.  Well, unless you count last Mother's Day which is the day I found out I was pregnant with Adeline.  Now I've got two precious baby.  Here are some pictures of our day.

mothersday Here we are in the 1 1/2 hour line for brunch at Loca Luna.  That's Jason, his mom (Nana), and Miss Addie Belle in her bff Eva's dress.

    Here's me and Freddy Monster

DSC04280 He had just fixed my hair for me, which translates to brushing it off of my shoulders!

DSC04294 This is my favorite present!  It's the most amazing diaper bag ever.  I fell in love with it at Pickles and Ice Cream here in Little Rock.  Jason went out and bought it, totally surprised me.  He also bought me a shopping cart cover and a dress for Addie that I pointed out to him in the store.  He's a sweetie, and this is on top of the sewing table I found on Craigslist.

    Now for some sweet cheeks

Jason calls her our little mobster.  I can see it!  Notice her pink/brown polka dot dress that mommy made!  Seriously, she's too cute.  Also, we're having her baptised or is that with a z...I dunno.  Well, we know the difference between a "believer's baptism" and an infant "christening" or dedication.  The Methodist Church just calls it what they call it, it's a ceremony to recognize prevenient grace.  My baby girl is gonna have some all kinds of learnin' though besides just Methodist doctrine.  Did I mention that I'm joining the Methodist Church with my sweet husband?  Yup, all this is goin' down on Sunday.  Now I just have to figure out what babies wear for this type of thing.  I don't want her to show up in a white gown and people gasp at it or people feel sorry for the poor girl showing up in her homemade dress with no fancy gown.

    So, that's that for now.

  • Whispering Eye

I got to watch a grown up movie tonight and it made me laugh hysterically despite feeling slightly guilty about it.  I'm not going to say which one out of shame! :)

My babies are sweet, they were adorable on Easter.  I'm too lazy to post pictures, or maybe just sleepy.  It's not exactly easy on xanga.  here, maybe I will but it takes so long.

Whew, that was tough!  They are adorable and worth it.

Hmm, my mom is getting married in August and I'm going to try and take these chillren across country by myself.  I'm scared to death about that possibility.  I can barely take them to the store by myself.  Does that part get easier?  Addie got her first bumbo chair and she likes it pretty well but it may take awhile before she has it down.  She tends to throw herself forward.

My friend, Rachel, is here visiting.  She makes me feel cool, and man that is important these days!  It's 11:05 and I'm going to BED while baby girl is asleep for maybe like another hour!

  • Late Night Catch Up

I haven't written in awhile. Since returning to work I have been rather depressed but handling it well I think. I'm scheming for ways to be able to stay home. I will ramble in this post. Adoption is pretty much pending for our sweet Freddy Monster. He told me, "I lah (aka "love") you, Manda" for the first time ever the other night. He was sitting on the potty while I was clipping his fingernails. He even patted my hair as he said it. I think I melted into a big puddle, lucky we were on the tile!

Freddy had tubes put in his ears last Wednesday and boy have they worked out the drainage. I've never seen so much gunk, his bed clothes have been washed like 5 times since then. I also took Addie to the doctor that day because she started wheezing. She's had a cough, runny nose, cold symptoms for a couple of weeks but I figured there wasn't much the doc could do so I just did the saline drops and tried to keep her nose clear. Well, the doctor checked her out and she had an ear infection in both ears and a virus similar to RSV and they sent me for a chest x-ray to make sure she didn't have pneumonia. It was scary. That was negative though and I was sent home with a prescription for an albuterol inhaler for her wheezing and to help her trachial pull...I doubt I spelled that right and Amoxicillin for her ear infection. Poor baby girl is doing much better, but that inhaler and mask are just so pitiful looking. I would post a picture but stupid google chrome doesn't work with Xanga and something is broken on Internet Explorer 8 according to my husband. Sometimes I wish I was just computer stupid and had no one to bother me with different options for internet access.

Hmm, what else??? Did I mention that I don't want to be at work. I cried the first week almost every day and then the following two weeks just on Monday and this week I only got a little teary on Sunday night. I'm just holding it down better. Pumping and nursing are still going well. I had a bit of a problem with Addie taking her bottle at daycare. She takes it for us and for Jason's mom and anyone else who has ever fed her, but at daycare she was eating like one ounce, 1 and a half, 2, then falling asleep and waking up an hour later to repeat the process. I read something about "reverse cycling" and that seems to be what it is. I have worked with the daycare to space out her feedings more and time them with when I pump. So far she hasn't had a nursing strike and my milk supply is staying up there. I've moved her up to 4 ounce bottles from three ounce since I get about that much at each pumping. I tell ya, it was so handy to be able to feed her one side but since I'm double pumping at work, I have to feed her on both sides at home too. My milk has evened out and she doesn't get enough from just one and if she doesn't nurse on both then I'm close to deathly explosion or pumping at home which sucks and I refuse to do it. It has been a bit of a challenge, but well worth it and seems to be working out. I need a deep freeze, when will I use all this frozen milk I've saved up and how will I use it before it goes bad? Did I mention that she weighed 11lb 4oz at her appointment last week? Yup, she's huge mongo!

Okay this is a boring post with no pictures, I'm really tired, and I still have to start the dishwasher before going to bed. Oh and don't judge me, but Addie is totally sleeping in our bed with us. I nurse her the minute she stirs at night and she sleeps so peacefully. I've tried putting her in the crib and she only stays asleep for 30 minutes at the absolute most and usually wakes up as soon as you go near the thing. They have magic sauce at daycare because she is always just chillin' in her crib for them. I don't know how they do it. I tell myself it's because she doesn't care if they hold her all day and night, she just wants her momma. Don't even get me started on how sad I am that other people are getting to watch her grow and coo at them and tell me about faces she's making and I have to miss it so I can go to stankin' work. I have to keep the faith that God would not put these desires in my heart for no reason and it will be for His glory someday that they are fulfilled.

Alright, going to bed now...kitchen first then bed.

This is what she does when you give her a kiss, she sticks her tongue out and directly into your mouth.  Is that gross?  We think it's hilarious!

  • Sick as a dog...whatever that means!

Ugh, I got terribly sick on Tuesday afternoon.  I had the chills but no fever and just felt achy and shaky, so I laid down for a nap with Addie.  I woke up with a 103 fever and a throbbing headache.  Jason got home and he was going to take us out to eat but I didn't feel up to it so he and our friend, Sheets, took the kiddos out and let me sleep some more.  Before they left I'd already thrown up once and couldn't even move.  I took a shower to let the water beat my head, but it was too warm so I ended up feeling dizzy.  They got home around 9 and Jason brought me Tylenol and gatorade.  I threw that up too.  Finally around 11 I just had to get out of the bed and I got up to feed the baby.  She'd had a bottle in the meantime.  Addie slept well and after Jason stripped down the bed we all got a bit of sleep, but Wednesday wasn't much better.  I've been dizzy and feeling like I'm going to pass out, and all I was able to keep down was some ginger ale.  I went to the doctor and he said it was a nasty virus and gave me a prescription for Phenegrin (sp?) so that I could keep liquids down.  He said I was very dehydrated and my body can't make milk without water.  Unfortunately, I have to pump and waste while I'm on the meds and I don't have enough milk saved up to avoid having to give her formula.  So I nursed her a couple more times today and realized that she wasn't getting much at all.  I ate a grilled cheese sandwich very slowly and have kept it down.  I've had a large sonic water with all the melted ice and two small containers of gatorade.  So, I'm going to try andd avoid taking the meds.  I've been giving Addie a bottle to make sure she's getting enough and sadly when I went to pump I only got an ounce after pumping both breasts!  I'm really worried.  Will my milk come back in full force once I get myself hydrated?  What should I do?  I'm panicking a bit!

  • Not So Much

Freddy was not so much impressed with the library...at first anyway. This was his opinion after kindersongs time when I asked if he wanted to take a book home with him

Freddy's thoughts on the library :)  This is his look about a lot of things lately.  I am working on teaching him about a good attitude/happy heart (As Manda G. puts it).  He perked up when we found the Curious George section and found both an Elmo and a Yo Gabba Gabba DVD to check out.  He left happy at least, but I think it will take a few more trips before he's into the singing/dancing thing.

Also, Miss Addie Belle Punkin Pie is trying to smile and it's so sweet.

    DSC03754 DSC03757

She doesn't quite have control of it, so she looks so funny trying.  It is pretty heart melty.

About Me

  • I am a 25 year old gal married to an awesome guy who just passed the Bar Exam! We just found out we're pregnant, due around January 15th. We live in Little Rock and are about to buy our first house. We're also looking for a church home and about to lose our minds because my 17 year old sister and 2 year old nephew live with us. Pray for the condition of our house in a few months! I just hope to keep old friends updated and meet new people to support in their efforts and to feel encouraged by whatever I may have to offer.
